December and summer have arrived!

The first of December – that means summer is here and Christmas is not too far away now (unless you’re an excited three year old anyway!)

What do you do to celebrate the start of December?

We put our tree up as a family, while listening to carols of course. And being such a beautiful evening today in Melbourne, we went outside and looked at Christmas lights in our street before the kids went to bed (a bit late!)

Hmm. Well, I watch a few of the movies that are tradition in my family to begin with. I also decorate the tree while listening to holiday music. Of course I help kids write their letters to Santa as well. I also sometimes stare a little jealously at the mall elf and wish for just one year I could be the helper elf. I also sill sit on Santa’s lap at the mall and tell him what I want. It’s silly to do so but the kids I babysit get nervous and if I do it then they’ll know it’s okay to do so after me.

    • That’s fantastic, sorrowscal! I love how you sit on Santa’s lap to help the kids you’re caring for – and for your own enjoyment I’m sure!

If it is your dream to help Santa, I’m sure you can find a way to do so. I’d love to hear about it when you do, too.

I’m going to try again this year. If not, then I’m going to go out dressed like an elf and randomly help people or give out presents. The community I live in right now could use a bit of random fun kindness like that!

As for Santa’s lap, I admit it, it’s still a lot of fun! You should see the look Santa gives me when I tell him what I want for Christmas is a Turducken. Well, there was one time I asked him for a large candy cane and he actually just gave it to me early. He ended up having to give everyone in line one instead of the small ones the elf usually passes out. It was very nice of him!

A Turducken is a seasonal dish which involves a Turkey, a duck, and a chicken. Basically, their all combined together a la durama doll style and served as you would serve any Christmas or Thanksgiving bird.
