20

Advent count down reaches day twenty!

Wow, we’ve made it to day twenty now.

What has happened on the 20th December? Well, in 1699 Peter the Great changed New Year from 1 September to 1 January, Grimm’s Rumpelstiltskin was first published in 1812, It’s a wonderful Life (a classic movie played every Christmas) premiered in 1946, and Rosa Parks sat in a ‘white seat’ on a bus in 1956.

Ornament calendar

Our ornament calendar today produced a sack for Santa – the image clearly shows it is full as the elves are struggling to move it!

Lego City

My son likes this mini digging machine, but I’m not sure it will fit in with his mining Lego very well as it is so small!

Lego Friends

Tonight’s Lego ornament is pretty – a white snowflake with blue ‘waterdrops’ on the end to give it colour and interest – and fits in with the white Christmas model.

Christmas book

And tonight’s Christmas book is Santa is coming to Australia! – and he is coming soon! It is a cute book and my kids love spotting places they can recognise – maybe we can get a map out tonight and they can trace Santa’s journey across Australia, too.

Continuing review of 2017 Lego advent calendars

While Christmas and animals are the concepts for these three days in the Friends calendar, the City calendar has moved away from vehicles …

Day 20…

Behind the 20th flap in the Lego Friends advent calendar was a Christmas tree – and as per previous years, the tree itself is different to the Lego City version.

Day 20 of the Lego City calendar, however, produced a man with chain saw – I’m not quite sure why, unless you think he was cutting down trees to be used as living Christmas trees?

Day 21…

My daughter was happy to find two presents (including a jewel inside the larger box) to put under her Friends Christmas tree.

The City calendar addition for day 21 was, ah, interesting and took a little thought to identify what is was meant to be. We have decided it is an ice sculpture of a snow angel! What do you think it is?

Day 22…

Well, there wasn’t much surprise to know that the Friends calendar had a black horse for day 22 , given we found it on day 16!

In the City calendar, however, my son found what he insists is a sleigh as “I haven’t got a sleigh for Santa yet”, rather than just a form of snow mobile/sled.

Lego advent review for day 20

Moving onto day twenty of the Christmas count down! Remember you can read introduction to our Lego advent reviews or catch up on day nineteen.

So, tonight my son got a snowman which he is happy with. This snowman has a scarf so looks a little different from the Friends snowman found on day four.

The Lego Friends advent calendar gave my daughter the pieces to construct two yellow arches – she called them bridges while my son called them rooves. I’m not sure what their purpose is and am hoping that will become clearer with tomorrow’s discovery! Mind you, my daughter was quite happy with them and having to build them.
