Countdown – day 21!

Well that’s it for the school year – the last schools have now had their final days (yes, state schools in some states have had classes right up to today!) and summer holidays are officially here! I think that makes tonight’s advent calendar opening even more exciting for those kids, including mine!

So, to finish the school year, my kids discovered a candle decoration and a picture of a candle with hot chocolate and an orange (maybe the orange is for us summer Christmas people and the drink for our northern neighbours?)

Lego City

Time is ticking away and Christmas is edging closer, so a themed clock tower is a well timed find in the City advent calendar tonight!

Day twenty-one and Christmas presents have arrived! Cute little gifts with a holder on the side for a string to hang them on the tree, my daughter is very happy with today’s find!

Christmas book

Tonight’s book to share is the toys’ night before Christmas which is such a beautiful book and somewhat appropriate as we are getting so close to Christmas Eve!

While Christmas and animals are the concepts for these three days in the Friends calendar, the City calendar has moved away from vehicles …

Day 20…

Behind the 20th flap in the Lego Friends advent calendar was a Christmas tree – and as per previous years, the tree itself is different to the Lego City version.

Day 20 of the Lego City calendar, however, produced a man with chain saw – I’m not quite sure why, unless you think he was cutting down trees to be used as living Christmas trees?

Day 21…

My daughter was happy to find two presents (including a jewel inside the larger box) to put under her Friends Christmas tree.

The City calendar addition for day 21 was, ah, interesting and took a little thought to identify what is was meant to be. We have decided it is an ice sculpture of a snow angel! What do you think it is?

Day 22…

Well, there wasn’t much surprise to know that the Friends calendar had a black horse for day 22 , given we found it on day 16!

In the City calendar, however, my son found what he insists is a sleigh as “I haven’t got a sleigh for Santa yet”, rather than just a form of snow mobile/sled.

Lego advent review for day 21

So we’re up to day 21 now, and everyone can count the number of sleeps until Christmas!

If you missed what the calendars gave us yesterday, you can catch up on day twenty. Read introduction to our Lego advent reviews or for the whole picture.

So tonight’s finds were quite interesting and unexpected, to my thinking anyway.

The Lego City calendar produced a campfire and marshmallows on sticks – something I love but don’t associate with snow or Christmas!

And for some unfathomable reason, Lego Friends gave my daughter a catapult with a ‘snowball’ to fling at Lego things. It is so far from what I was thinking, especially in the last days of the advent calendars, but nice to see such things are not reserved for boys! The back of the flap carries a warning (to not fling the ‘snowball at people’s faces) as well as instructions, too.

What do you think – is a campfire and a catapult unexpected, or do they fit the overall themes we’ve been seeing in the calendars?
