Christmas countdown – day five

Following on from finding Tinkles on the footy, today’s calendars aren’t really every Christmassy – at least not for those of us living in Australia without penguins and snow in December!

The picture today is a cute penguin giving her baby penguin a Christmas gift, and the ornament itself is a penguin!

Lego City

My son built the sled easily enough, but we’re not sure of the white pieces alongside it – I think it is meant to be a snow covered ramp but it is too small for the sled to run down so an not sure of the ramp’s purpose! Maybe someone better used to snow and sleds will know…

Lego Friends

My daughter put together the snowman ornament tonight. The nose is cute and a bit soft and bendy! But overall this is not the best looking Lego snowman – we saw better ones in the 2017 City calendar, the 2015 Friends calendar, the 2016 Friends calendar and my favourite is probably the 2015 City snowman or maybe the 2017 Friends snowman from Christmas Eve.

By the way, like the press out advent calendar, these ornaments do not come with the means to actually hang them so, if using this calendar, you will need to get some string or ribbon to hang the ornaments – we’re still working on where we’ll will hang them…

Christmas book

Peppa’s Christmas Post is our Christmas book for tonight so we can talk about letters and helping our families when they need it.

Lego advent calendar review continues…

Part three of our Lego advent calendar reviews… We finished off after day five hoping for the Lego Friends calendar to produce some exciting items, so let’s see what we found behind the next three flaps.

Day six

The Lego City calendar for day six was a plane for my son to build. He initially followed the instructions and built the plane as shown, but then realised he had enough spare bits that he could change the design a little, which made him happy.

My daughter found a ski ramp and snow board, which she was happy enough to put together.

Day seven

I was very surprised that another pet shelter/stand was behind the flap for day seven in the Friends calendar. But both my children and their friend thought it was perfectly reasonable to have one for the rabbit and this new one for the dog so fair enough!

My son was very excited to build a sleigh (more of a sled I’d call it, but he’s happy with a sleigh) from his City calendar for day seven. He was a little unsure about who was meant to ride on the sleigh so I offered but found it did move too well when I put my foot on it…

Day eight

And tonight the Friends calendar produced the dog’s sled to attach behind Stephanie’s snow mobile. While the dog alone disappointed her, my daughter is now quite happy to have the stand and sled for the dog.

Meanwhile, the City calendar gave my son a grandmother figure with a tray of biscuits (presumably ready to give Santa!) She now sits proudly on the chair!

Fresh biscuits anyone?

Day five of Lego advent calendars

Is your family enjoying the count down of opening an advent calendar each day?

I am certainly enjoying watching my children delight over their calendars each day – and it is fun to see what Lego items are revealed each day.

Day five…

The Lego Friends calendar gave Emma a friend in the form of Naomi.

Welcome to Naomi!

My son found a motorised sled in the City calendar and very happily put it together.

As a reminder, on day four we revealed a fire-fighter with a trumpet and a campfire and flowers for Emma.
