Where does Santa leave your presents?
Santa adapts well to each family’s preferences and traditions, leaving presents wherever suits the family, be it in a stocking or not, under the tree, indoors or even outdoors.
So let us know where Santa leaves presents in your house – is it the same as when you were younger? Is there a story or reason for that place?

Don’t drink & fly
When I was a kid, we used to go to my grandparents every second year, and we always left a snack for Santa when we were there.
One year, instead of the traditional glass of milk, we left a stubbie of beer. The next morning we found a note from Santa saying “Thank you for the beer, but I don’t drink and fly!”

Being Santa
This is my story of getting the opportunity of being Santa for the kids!
A couple of years ago, Santa wasn’t able to make it to the occasional care centre where my darling wife worked and daughters were cared for, so I volunteered to don the red Santa suit and fill in for the big man.

Santa arrives to see the children
I remember it being a typically hot December morning so it wasn’t much fun to wear a Santa suit, cushioning, wig, beard and gloves, but watching the kids’ excitement was worth it.
The funniest part of the day, however, was watching my 2.5 year old daughter stay away from Santa (that is, me!) in fear. Her mum got her close to me only with a bribe of a lolly bag, and that was only with holding mum’s hand tightly and running once she had firm grasp of a lolly bag! All her friends sat on my lap for a photo and chat, but not my little girl.
It was hard keeping a straight face and not telling her who was really under the suit, but we weren’t going to spoil the illusion for any of the kids.
Christmas Memories and stories…
Christmas brings many images to mind – rushing around getting gifts organised, preparing food, visiting family and friends, decorations everywhere, end of year projects/assignments being finished, cricket season, and so on.
There are so many different ways to celebrate Christmas, too. Especially when you consider the variety of family size and structures now, and how many people don’t live close to family.
This section of our blog is for sharing those traditions, ideas and stories that have made our Christmases what they are. Hopefully, reliving the memory will bring a smile to your face and the face of others. And it may just start a family tradition for others, too.

So please let us know some of the things that make your Christmas special.

Favourite Santa stories and memories
From the time we’re one or two years old until we’re about 10, we get a special visit from Santa on Christmas Eve. We also see Santa at special events, shops, parks and in books and movies.
Some families have special traditions for Santa – like leaving the same snack every year, hanging up stockings, finding presents under the tree or on the bed. We love hearing about these traditions, so pelase share them in this category of our blog.
Your special stories can go in here, too – those one off things that happened that hold a special place in your heart.

Santa Snacks ~ traditions and ideas
Leaving out some Santa snacks is a long held tradition in many parts of the world.
Santa is a very busy man on Christmas Eve – he has a lot of houses to visit and many presents to deliver. So it’s understandable he gets hungry & thirsty along the way!
Santa appreciates finding a snack (and maybe a thank you letter) waiting for him when he visits – and it’s good manners to offer him something in return for all those gifts, too!
There are some recipes and ideas in our snacks article, and lots more Santa snacks recipes throughout our blog.
But maybe you have a special snack you leave out for Santa every year. We’d love to hear about it, and even better, we’d love to have the recipe if you know it.

Welcome!
Santa and Christmas provide magic and happiness to many children and adults around the world.
I am proud to have been asked by Santa to help him keep up with his letter writing each Christmas, but I still want to do more to keep the magic alive. So I have started this blog to share Christmas memories, traditions and ideas.
Everyone is welcome to share their special Christmas and Santa memories in this blog. Remember that if it is a precious memory to you, it can be included no matter how simple or insignifcant it may seem.
