Pulling together to give a special Christmas wish

I just read a newspaper story about Santa and wanted to share it. I also found the YouTube video of it which brought tears to my eyes.

In Lebanon, a young girl, Carmen, had a wish of getting an iPad for Christmas. the Tamanna Lebanon organization (a group like Make-a-Wish who help critically ill children get a special wish granted) took it a step further and had Santa present the iPad to her during her chemotherapy even though it was September.

Santa loves surprises and Christmas decorations! With help from various groups, Carmen (and the unsuspecting shoppers!) was surprised with a street full of Christmas decorations, confetti and music. A helicopter delivered Santa to Carmen with her gift and a banner wished her Merry Christmas.

It is lovely Carmen was given such a treat during horrific treatments.

I also love the fact how many people came together, cooperated and didn’t charge a cent to bring the magic of Christmas alive of r a stranger – and all the other people who surrounded her.

Can you think of a way to bring a little more Christmas magic into your community this year?

There are so many kids in our area who don’t get very much, if anything for Christmas. A couple of years ago, there was such a family at our church. The boy was four-years-old and was in my Sunday School class. He was a sweet, if rambunctious little boy, and I knew that his parents, both of whom had been recently laid off from work, were going to have a hard time putting anything under the tree. So, I went shopping in Santa’s place that year. You should have seen that dad’s face light up when I handed those toys over to him. It was the best thanks I could have ever gotten.

Well done ChrisitQ – that pile of gifts meant so much more than the physical toys. Struggling at Christmas s hard for anyone but I think it is harder for parents of young kids because you want them to have a great day and there’s so much pressure that ‘great day’ means gifts and other things money can buy.

PS I love that Santa picture, too – very cute how he peaks around the Christmas tree 🙂

Wish I could see a sudden Christmas display like that -a nd get an iPad, hahaha.
really that is nice for the girl and great how people came together for her – even the strangers who were surprised seemed happy for her when they figured out what was going on. Merry Christmas little girl.
